How can I start the DataFlow procedure?
The DataFlow procedure requires the certified translation of your documents. In the case of a certified translation, a court-certified translator or interpreter confirms the accuracy and completeness of the translation by affixing a certification and stamp to it.
Please keep in mind that all pre-authentication, over-authentication and final authentications must also be translated into the foreign language. Therefore, it is advisable not to commission the translation until all authentications from the authorities have been received, unless something else is required for the authentication process.
- In international document traffic, the authenticity of documents, certificates and deeds is confirmed either by a pre-, over- and final certification or an apostille.
- As a rule, the issuing authority of the document and its superior authorities are responsible for issuing the authentications.
- The Federal Office for Foreign Affairs (BfAA) in Brandenburg is responsible for issuing the final authentication.
- Confirmation of the correctness of the final authentication is called legalization. This will be carried out by the foreign representation of the target country (embassy / consulate) in the following step.
- In the last step, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the target country confirms that the legalization by the foreign representation (embassy / consulate) is correct.
- Now the documents are legally valid in the target country, checked for authenticity and can be presented to the relevant authority for recognition or approval.

DataFlow’s goal is to simplify and make the verification of the authenticity of certificates and documents more efficient, so this process does away with some authentication and time-consuming legalization. Authenticity is verified through the DataFlow process by contacting the issuing entity and verifying through DataFlow that they know the person designated in the document and actually issued the document.

Please contact the relevant authority in advance to find out if your documents need to be legalized for the desired target country. Legalization procedures in Germany regularly take between 3 and 9 months. Longer processing times cannot be ruled out.
Please note that some offices in Germany refuse to certify documents using the DataFlow process.
Here it is recommended to contact DataFlow and check an alternative method of verification. Alternatively, the traditional and somewhat time-consuming way of legalization can be carried out in international document traffic.

How long does it take to create the translations?
Our translators work for our clients on a daily basis throughout Germany. Please note that the processing time for translations can be 1-2 weeks, depending on the volume. In some cases, the processing of translations may take more time.
Please remember that your documents must be authenticated by several agencies before they can be used abroad, which also takes several months.
We recommend that you check with the appropriate authority for any pre- and over-authentications that may be required.
How much does it cost to verify documents, diplomas and certificates via the DataFlow Group?
The costs for the DataFlow process vary greatly depending on the target country and document. Usually, the cost per document is about 75.00 to 95.00 euro.
