How much does interpreting
at a notary cost?

Interpreting at a notary’s office requires the interpreter to be sworn in. The contract to be notarized should be provided to the interpreter in advance, at least in draft form. This ensures that the notarization process runs smoothly and saves the parties involved a lot of time.

Depending on the length of the contract to be notarized and the time scheduled, we charge a half-day rate starting at EUR 450.00 for interpreting services at a notary’s office.

This price includes:

  • Travel time to and from the notary
  • Travel allowance, parking or public transport tickets
  • necessary waiting times
  • Appointment duration in the notary’s office
  • Contract preparation: The interpreter must read the contract before the appointment, research technical terms, and prepare them for interpretation (approx. 10 minutes per page).

Interpretation of a 12-page purchase contract:

  • 2 hours for travel to and from the location: €170 plus VAT
  • Parking ticket: €5
  • Travel expenses (vehicle wear and tear and mileage) for 100 km travel: €42 plus VAT
  • 2 hours of contract preparation: €170 plus VAT
  • 2 hours at the notary’s office: €170 plus VAT

Total cost: around €660 (including VAT)

Important to note:

  • Prices vary depending on the scope and complexity of the contracts and texts.
  • Booking an interpreter for the notary’s office does not include a written (certified) translation of the contract.
  • The interpreter has to be booked at least 2 weeks before the appointment.
  • The interpreter needs the draft of the contract at least 1 week before the appointment for preparation purposes.

How much does interpreting
at the registry office cost?

The costs for interpreting at the registry office can vary. Prices mainly depend on the language and travel time. On average, you can expect a total of 2 to 3 hours, depending on travel time. In addition, there are often two appointments — one to register the marriage and another for the wedding ceremony itself.

The costs for this are approx. €390.00 to €490.00 per appointment, depending on the language combination and the location, including VAT.

How much does interpreting
at conferences cost?

Interpreting at conferences is usually done simultaneously. Two to three interpreters per language sit in an interpreting booth and the interpretation is transmitted via a conference system.

Depending on the duration of the event, a half-day or full-day rate per person will be charged. However, the costs vary greatly depending on the subject matter and language combination.

What does interpreting
remotely cost?

Remote interpreting is more relevant today than ever before. Since the 2020 pandemic, many companies, government agencies, and customers have become more open to remote communication. Interpreters are increasingly being called upon to provide services online via video conference or by telephone.

There are no travel time or costs involved. For most appointments, we charge a flat rate of up to two hours, which costs €170 plus VAT.
